What can I expect?
One of the most influential works from Sir Alan Ayckbourn comes to the West End, led by two unforgettable performers: Sheridan Smith, returning to the London stage with her trademark emotional power, and Romesh Ranganathan, making his much-anticipated West End debut.
Woman in Mind invites audiences into the shifting mindscape of Susan, a woman who begins to experience two parallel versions of her life after a minor accident. In one world, reality is bleak: strained relationships, loneliness, and the quiet erosion of her identity. In the other, she is welcomed into a beautifully imagined life — a loving family, admiration, warmth, and the happiness she has always longed for.
As these two worlds intertwine, Susan’s grasp on reality begins to fracture. What starts as comforting fantasy becomes consuming escape, leading to a compelling, humorous, and ultimately heart-piercing exploration of mental and emotional unraveling.
Ayckbourn’s script blends sharp wit with psychological depth, asking profound questions about fulfillment, isolation, and the stories we tell ourselves to survive. Under the direction of Michael Longhurst, this production balances warmth and darkness with precision — grounded by a riveting performance from Sheridan Smith and a surprising, brilliant dramatic turn from Romesh Ranganathan.
A powerful, intimate, and moving theatrical experience, Woman in Mind offers laughter, heartbreak, and insight in equal measure.
A strictly limited engagement — once it’s gone, it’s gone.
